Introduction

Hello, my name is Nile Bee and I am a graduate student in the MAT program. I am a proud father of two boy’s ages eight and two. I work two jobs, and go to school full time, so I may be hard to reach at some times, but if you email me at nilebee@gmail.com it comes directly to my phone, so that is probably the best way to reach me. I am really taking this class to further my own classroom management skills, and I am looking for new ways to reach my students. I used to be a heavy gamer, but have not had the time recently to really play. When I did play, I usually played sport games with my friends, or superhero games with my son. I liked to play because it was always fun to sit around and trash talk with my friends, and it was nice to share something with little Nile. My oldest son is a gamer, and it depends on the game itself as to whether I object to him playing. We usually tend to use the systems as motivational tool, such as good grades on his report card warrant a new game where as if he receives bad grades he loses the system completely. I do not really have a problem with Nile playing the games, because it is not overbearing on his lifestyle, he stays very active, and an hour or two of him playing the game is no different to me as if he were watching TV. In 1983, the US invaded Grenada, the Czech Republic was created, and crack cocaine was invented. The link that I chose to share takes a different look at video games, and part of the future in education if you ask me. I just wanted to show everyone that video games have a high potential despite their bad reputation.

Self-assessment

I would not say that I deserve an A in the class, unless you are talking about skills learned. I have learned a great deal in these short weeks that I would have never learned about anywhere else. This class has unquestionably provided me new abilities to use in my classroom. I have not enjoyed all of it such as the soundboard which made me want to pull my hair out, and send out hate mail to the creators of that site, but I pushed through it. That was something that I had never even thought about doing, in fact I am still trying to find a way to post it without the demo sound coming through. I know that the assignment is over, but it is one of those things that are going to bug me until I get it to work properly. As far as my assessment, I would argue that a B is more suiting of a grade, because of the late work. I know that most of this is busy work, but trying to get it to fit in to my schedule has been hectic to say the least. I am trying to balance more than I can handle right now, but I do not have a choice. I am tiered of meaningless jobs and having to work so many hours just to get by, so graduating faster and taking full time hours is a means to an end for me and my family. I am student teaching as well,  so I did fall behind a little, but I am working feverishly to catch up, and later today I am going to finish the Excel project, I don’t know if I will get my postings done tonight but I will certainly try. With that being said I have done all of the other activities, and learned a great deal from the class and I am happy to see where it is heading. As always thank you for your time

Mill Test

Seeing how I am not very technologically advanced, I was surprised when the Mill Test results rated me at 89. I am glad that I have a high ability to relate with my students, but besides an Xbox and my cell phone I don’t really play around with too many gadgets. I think that this class has helped my advancement into the 21st century more than anything has. I have already incorporated some of these items into my lesson plans. I know that I have a lot in common with many of my students, but then again there are some days that I don’t know what my oldest son is thinking. That must be more of a parent thing. Nevertheless, I thought that the quiz certainly helped to persuade myself that I am not at old as I feel sometimes. I provided the link below, try it out, and as always thank you for your time.

Personality Test Results

2nd Profile- After reviewing the first part of the assignment I was not convinced about my self-projected personality. However, I was delightfully surprised to learn that my hypothetical personality of an ISTJ was not a match when I took the personality test. The personality test rated me as an ENFJ, which matches the description for an Idealist teacher. I believe that this test has captured my personal outlook better than the first assignment. I have always been compassionate, and responsible. As anyone who has read my philosophies on teaching knows that, I demand more than the average teacher does. Not in the sense of a heavy workload, but in the way that I make my students learn.  Furthermore, I am determined to do my best to reach every student that I can, already this year I have gained the respect of two BD students and have made significant progress in the classroom with them.
I agree that people are most of the time my first priority, and I have to stay involved during work. I actually believe that this job has played to my strengths and is the best fit for me personally. The personality test results proved that for me. I do plan everything out ahead of time and I am an easy going person with thick skin. I like this assessment of my character and I feel that taking the test is definitely a positive experience. Nevertheless, I have to admit that I am not sure what this relates to in respects to teaching. Self-realization is important to personal growth and understanding how to use your attributes more effectively, but  as a professional you should already be confident in your ability to adapt to situations. I guess what I am trying to say is that if you do not possess the ability to understand how to better help yourself, than how are you going to be able to understand how to help others? The two web sites below will allow you to test your character and tell you what the results mean, have fun and thank you for your time.

Personality

Personality 1     In making my own judgment by reading the personality types, I came up with ISTJ. That is the same path for a Guardian Inspector. Now I am not sure that is truly who I am, I may have over-thought the types. Nevertheless, it does say that I am super dependable, which is true for the most part. Now obviously I have fallen behind this semester, but there have been some unexpected situations that have required my attention. Nonetheless, there is no excuse for my delay. Furthermore, I am glad that it does have a significant part of my social life correct, I am outgoing to a degree I am an assistant coach for T-Ball and I would love to coach football someday. I am not truly convinced with everything that the profile had to say, I do not always abide by the set ways of the rules. I like to think on my feet and change depending on what the situation calls for. I have already changed my teaching styles in two different classes this year and even though I have stayed within the state standards, I have not keep to the schedule of my lesson plans. One major component of being a teacher is your ability to adapt, whether to your students’ needs or new regulations, and technologies. In addition,  I am not hard hearted, I am a very compassionate person, and I certainly identify with people who are having a difficult time, or need help. I would like to believe that everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, and I cannot sit by and do nothing when somebody needs assistance. In conclusion, I believe that there are certainly parts of this profile that fit, but we will have to see the test results before I am convinced. Nevertheless, it is a cool website, and it was fun to try and determine who you really are check it out at the link below.

Podcast

Well I finally just decided to go ahead and post my podcast. I could not figure out how to get that woman’s voice out of the broadcast. I tried to minimize the clips and splice them together to drown her out but it was to of no avail. I hope you guys can bear through it, it is located at http://nilebee.podbean.com/. I tried to show how different music has had an impact on me and to relate my favorite band Off The Grid. Nevertheless I am determined to figure this out and I will do my best to update it as soon as I possibly can. As always thank you for your time.

Audacity First of many I am afraid

I hate this assignment, oh I am so ready to pull my hair out and start sending the Audacity creators hate mail. I have tried and tried to download the program without that woman saying demo every fifteen seconds. My computer will not support the beta and the one that does work for windows will not let me post a clip on the board without her mouth. I downloaded everything even the converter and it doesn’t seem to matter, it will let me cut the songs and add my recordings but I cant get it clean. I also tried to download AVS audio editor and I get the same results and those tracks come straight off of my cds. However, I would like to note that I do like that program so much more than the first audacity program that I tried to run. Nevertheless, I still have not had any luck. Now, the important aspect to note is that I have not given up and as soon as I can get someone to help me figure this out I will be reposting for this assignment and adding in my podcast. If all else fails I will try to convert it with her still playing in the background like the sound of the world’s most annoying commentator. Well stay tuned for more of this fantastic adventure, as always thanks for your time.
